yes but i think in this case a lot of the appeal is judy herself. she’s pretty hilarious. but i guess even without her (and before her, with the people’s court although maybe her husband is also very funny. i think he was/is the judge for that) the formula is appealing because there are/have been a ton of judge shows.

if memory serves, the movie is bad. my best friend and i watched it years ago shortly after it came out on dvd and we were thoroughly disappointed.

she is truly awful. i’ve never seen anyone so determined to be cruel, seemingly just for her own amusement. or sometimes because her own feelings are hurt or defenses are up but her reactions are basically always disproportionate to whatever she’s reacting to.

also it was super awkward when she said something like “we ask that you let Shannon feel you inside her...” or something like that. ick.
