Yes, very well said. Just this last week, I was wondering how different things would have been if RBG had gracefully retired when Obama was still in office? How much worse off is our nation due to her insistence on staying on the Supreme Court well past any point of reasonable retirement?

There’s an important distinction that gets lost in nearly every discussion of “high-maintenance” women vs. “chill, “low-key,” etc. And that is the distinction between what you are doing/paying for yourself, and what you are asking of others.

Agreed. Maybe we’re not seeing this, but it doesn’t seem like they’re really keen on mentoring younger Dems for the sake of succession. What a lot of these Dems should be doing is picking someone to throw their support behind to take over their seats while they take supporting roles in their admins or simply retire.

I think AOC (who I do not hero-worship) put it best when she said that one of the Democratic Party’s worst traits is that they are not good at ushering in new generations of Democratic leaders.
