I hate to break it to you but most teachers are women. Many who are also mothers...

This has been a nightmare for a lot of people. Back when the pandemic started one of my direct reports was stuck at home in NYC with a 1, 4 and 7 year old. His wife was a nurse at a nearby hospital and was asked to essentially live in the hospital for 10 weeks straight. All schools and daycare centers we’re closed at

I imagine it’s been really hard for family caregivers of elderly people as well. I spent twelve years caring for four different family members with varying degrees of dementia; the last one, my dad, died in late January of brain cancer. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like trying to care for him during

yeah i dont think its going to get better because there are legislators who’ve never wanted women in the workforce

I have not yet yelled at my husband “You’ve done for eight months what I’ve done for eight years, but yeah, give yourself a fucking medal.” I have, however, sobbed it during therapy, which currently takes place over the phone while I’m parked in the lot at an abandoned Sears.

When my husband told his brother that he was scared of having a kid because of how much work it is on top of how much work he already had, his brother (father of 2) assured him that, “You’d be fine! Not much changes.” Luckily, my husband is not a fucking idiot.

Sounds like your architect neighbor might as well ditch the husband, since the only difference in terms of how much juggling she’s doing would be having to manage his shit too.

It *is* worse. I am not essential but my husband is. I make 90% of our money and now provide extra childcare on the clock while working FT because 3 days a week he is at work and there is no way we can try to provide podded pre-k to our kid without after and before care without me having her home in the afternoons 3

What a nightmare, and as I was having doubts about being childfree by choice, now that I’m 39, the pandemic made me realize I made the right choice. My job can’t be done from home, and I’m glad I still have one. I knew things were unequal before and the struggles of childcare, but it’s so much worse now.

I will admit to having some schaedenfreude about some of my male colleagues who are at home with their families all day (instead of being able to go into the office, or away on business travel). I am under no illusions that they are pulling their weight, but you can see on zoom calls that they are 100% not used to

I’ve got a feelin’ we’ll be seeing this line again, and anytime anything positive, or Dem approved needs to pushed through the Senate, so I guess you might as well save the heading for future use.

Are we really going to sit through 4-8 years of Republicans suddenly concerned about fiscal responsibility? My motherfucking taxes went up to pay for that $1.5 trillion monstrosity in 2017 that gave breaks to the wealthiest 400 or so families in the country. And now Republicans give a shit? Fuck you forever.

The hotel already knows who she is. It says boatloads that it appears the NYPD hasn’t asked them yet.

Why not, if the shoe were on the other foot, you know that a black man who attempted to take an iPhone from a white woman, who scratched and attempted to tackles a white woman would be arrested and prosecuted.  She should face the same legal consequences he would face.

The woman was a guest at the hotel several days prior.

Nah fuck that. Drag her ass to court. Last thing I want to see is another Karen ending up on some right-wing talk show about being misunderstood and traumatized and SHE’S really the victim in all this mess.

I don’t think it should be hard to find her. An Uber driver turned it in which means they have record of her information.

Because his supporters didn’t show up during the primaries? It ain’t rocket science, and even Bernie lamented the lack of follow-through with his base during the primaries.

Meanwhile:

Good for him - I appreciate his actions on behalf of the American people. Perhaps a few other Senators will step up.
