Clean House was my favorite, and where I know Niecy from. She was even basically the guest on an episode, they went to her Mom’s house and helped her own family!

I liked that the show worked on a pretty realistic budget. Usually Niecy would add 1 sponsored element to the show like she would get the advertiser provided

I loved Clean House! I enjoyed the follow-up episodes to see how well the homeowners maintained their homes.

As a short person, I endorse this message. Islands always seem so uncomfortable to sit at for more than 10 minutes.

The idea of a kitchen island indicating status is interesting. I grew up lower-middle class (not poor, but not “comfortable”) in a home that my grandparents had lived in and renovated in the 70s.

I would rather have more of a kitchen pennisula to make it harder for people to wander into my work space. My partner likes to entertain and people like to come in and chat with me while I am trying to do 10 things at once. I would prefer it if I had some kind of barrier.

I hate counter seating and can’t imagine preferring it to a real table.  It’s cramped and seating is much more comfortable when your feet touch the ground.

The article mentions that the island is a point of surveillance.  I’m of the mind that Julia Child, and in turn TV cooking in general had a hand in popularizing the island. My local PBS shows her early series on occasion, and my kitchen is strikingly similar to the layout you see in the 1963 The French Chef set.

You’re right, but I do love these columns. It is partially about responding to wealthy consumer trends, but I think it’s more about homeowners wanting the crazy shit they see on HGTV rather than what actually works in a home.

I can’t even imagine George W. Bush doing this and I hate that asshole. This shit just wasn’t done before. Not even by the worst of the worst. Or rather, the people we used to think of as the worst. We really had no idea.

No, I can’t.  The man had integrity.  Trump is a turd, plain and simple.  His followers are toddlers.  The fact that many of them are “christians” just reminds me my mother was right, religion is a con.  It’s never led to better people or better behavior, instead it often contributes to quite the opposite.

I don’t see how we move forward as a country without bringing the Q crowd back from the edge of the cliff, and I’m all ears for ideas on how to do that.

I’m not really one to promote conspiracy theories but look up hammer and scorecard.”

This is our reality now. Real-time gaslighting and the propagation of conspiracy theories in the name of keeping people informed and up-to-date on important issues. I don’t see how we move forward as a country without bringing the Q

Thank you. Here’s the pic:

The plan isn’t perfect, as some people have ably pointed out in the comments, but what bugs me EVEN MORE than the jealous haters is the attitude that if we can’t perfectly fix it (or if it’s hard, or expensive, or called the wrong thing) then we shouldn’t do anything at all. Blow me, Bob.

From what I’ve seen of socialite-y-WASP weddings so far around here, including a couple of brides I’m no longer hanging out with, their “coronavirus precautions” literally amount to, “we put a sentence up about it on our website that if you didn’t want to come you didn’t have to,” and “we put a mask on Nana, maybe.”

I think even just cancelling interest would be a huge help, it's silly that people have paid more than the initial loan and are still not close to finishing!

I’ve heard the same argument about refugees. How come they get free rent, or how come so-and-so is buying them a car or worst of all... a cell phone... .

Anyone who says something like this is a conservative, regardless of what their voter-registration card says about party affiliation.

Person: “I want a better life for my kids.”

Yeah all the complainers talking about “you gonna pay my mortgage too?” or some other shit...gtfo. This is a crisis on so many levels. And those same people complaining about that are also many of the ones talking about economic recovery. What better way to help the economy (and more importantly, the people) recover
