It is so weird that people expect gifts all the events, because that is not etiquette. You give a wedding gift at one wedding event even if you attend all events. A bridal shower or engagement party is for wedding gifts, not extra gifts.

Honestly, you should tell your close friends/relatives (the ones who won’t judge you) and let them spread the word for you. This way you’re not being tacky, and your friends are being extra thoughtful of your circumstances.
