As a Canadian who’s lived in the US for 6 years, pretty much this. When describing temperature its all how you’ve relatively linked a number to a feeling. That works regardless of scale.

In Finland, by law, you’re only allowed to smile for 1.5 seconds at a time. Any longer and you must then awkwardly look away and frown.
If that were the case, then I’d assume this mode should have been disclosed as well as having a way to disable it for emissions testing so that accurate results could be attained. Because otherwise this looks very much like an emissions cheat.
