It’s ridiculous. I understand the idea to show respect and show that you appreciate receiving someone’s information. But they treat it like it’s part of your soul and go absurdly far with it.

Wow, just googled Meishi and what a rabbit hole. I hope I never have to do business in Japan, because I will 100% come across as a moron.
Karoshi. xD
What’s funny is that as a westerner, I’ll suggest (or naturally position myself as) all examples mentionned in the article. They have not even been taught to me, it all comes, I don’t know, as natural. I don’t know if I would do them as gladly if they were kinda “forced” to me tho ...
They’re usually very forgiving for non-Japanese, although on a personal level that forgiveness might be more genuine or sometimes it’s pity as if you’re a stray dog who doesn’t know better. They use all their leeway up on foreigners, though, because there damn well is none if you’re Japanese.
Ha, that reminds me of how Japan let a bunch of Japanese-Brazilians to immigrate to Japan to fill a lot of open low level jobs. (I think this was in the 2000s) The assumption was that these people were Japanese (or half-Japanese) so they would much more easily integrate into society. These folks had never lived in…
Close friend of mine holds a very high position for a Fortune 500 company based out of Tokyo. His job is to manage the offices in South America.
Going out with clients here is usually blunder after blunder for me. I definitely get a good bit of Gaijin leeway though.

One of those things seems…
The FFXIV Localization team is my favorite.
The person that wrote that had to go to the hospital because their tongue went straight through their cheek.
That is some suggestive language.
2nd reply you did however introduce me to ‘tong sui’ which I didn’t know existed, and now I have 1 more reason on a list of millions for hating living in Ft Wayne, IN. I like it for other reasons, seasons and cost of living, and speed of life, among them, but damn I wish I could find bubble tea, lechon, or tong sui…
The browning sounds nice, but the ‘zenzai’ I hadn’t heard of and...noooo, it sounds like it lacks any texture and like eating a pot of refried beans full of firmer refried beans. I love mochi and red bean paste, even mochi stuffed with red bean paste, but zenzai doesn’t sound good due to a real lack of any good…
