She was good otherwise, but yeesssh whenever she got onto those long drawn out speeches my eyes would cross. She also would frequently talk about how The Great Gatsby was the best novel written in the English Language ever. Though the worst was she always suggested THE most depressing short stories in our American

You know, now that you say that. As a English Lit major Can Confirm. There was my first English Professor, a woman who wore full on 1950's outfit and went on long tangents about her boyfriends. Then there was my creative writing Prof. who was most good.... uuunnntiil she started waxing poetic about how in this age of

I swear I am so excited for this. I pretty much learned to cook as a little kid through his show. And not only that, but to this day it helps me understand how to substitute better and when/what I can experiment with. I didn’t fully realize how many of his lessons I absorbed as a kid watching his show until I started

Strangely, depending on the horror movie and how it’s handled, I find ‘the monster wins’ ones infinitely easier to sit through and far more fascinating.

Now, this of course varies (and I don’t watch slashers), and I actually DON’T like most horror films and am often the person sitting there because my friends wanted

OH MAN they could ACTUALLY do a more serious version of Emperor’s new groove reviving songs like ‘snuff out the light’ and all that brilliance. It would be shame not to have Eartha Kitt (RIP), but with a more serious take it would at least allow her voice as Yzma not COMPLETELY overshadow whoever was recast in her

The key is when they have sale bundles. I joined sims 4 about... 2 ish years ago? After they added both toddlers and removed the gender locked options for CAS.

I pretty much just bought stuff when it was on sale or in the sale bundles when I had the money, and not even a year later I was all caught up (about the only

Pretty much! And there is this idea out there that it’s healthier than smoking. Luckily I never got into it despite it being huge among my college friends because after my grandpa died of throat cancer and my dad almost did the same, well. Makes one a wee bit paranoid about playing the genetic Russian Roulette with

Ah see, grasshopper, there is a Rhyme Scheme.

First was Mojo Pork Night. But the second? Mojo Porkaloo Part 2. So the next would be something like Mojo Porkalore Part 4. Still debating on the name.

This is intersped with ‘Not so Chilly Chili Night’, ‘Wino Chicken (With Wine)’ night, and some other names with similarly

Yeah it’s the Tupperware bit that gets me. And plus, it’s just manners to ask “Hey, have any drinks?”

First thing we tell people when we’re hosting is “-lists drinks and where they are located-, feel free to grab any!” for the more casual events. But for a person to just go into the fridge, without asking? Nnnrggh.

Ok, as someone who regulary cooks up a storm and hosts friends for dinner at my place (last event: The Mojo Porkabee Part 3 which involved slow cooked Mojo Pork, whipped cream cake, and cilantro lime rice, as well as wine), no.

LW why the heck didn’t you tell this MoFo to get the heck out of your fridge? If I caught

Ok, but here I am, a person telling you how this all messed me up and worsened my relationship with food for YEARS. I am living proof that this stuff does not work, and in fact worsens things. And I was really... only kinda chubby when I was shoved on all these diets. Honestly? Probably an alternate dimension out

Exactly. The whole language and ‘belief system’ around mainstream weight loss culture in the US is actively damaging to real, sustained health.

For me it was “ok, let’s try to learn a healthier recipe” here, and switching over once I had a kitchen to making huge meals to freeze for the week. Sometimes I can’t afford

But these should 100% not be marketed to kids, because kids are not self-deterministic enough to healthily handle this without picking up all the subtle and not so subtle toxic and HECK messaging.

As an adult, one who is aware of the messaging and can pick through it? Sure, yeah, cool. As a kid or teenager? HECK. NO.

I

As someone who to this day is quite literally triggered into a panic attack when people start picking apart calories and doing the competitive eating game (“Well I’m eating boiled chicken and greens for dinner!” “I’M eating a fruit bowl.”) because of being shoved into these diets, and having been signed up for weight

The problem is I am 100% convinced the Weight Loss companies and culture contribute to the Overweight population, because stuff like Weight Watchers promotes value judgements on food which then basically makes one feel like a ‘failure’ or ‘bad’ or like they might as well give up if they don’t stick to these strict

Because it marks foods as ‘bad’. Look, I know it’s weird for those who didn’t struggle with growing up inundated on the ‘diet of the week’ as a kid and surrounded by that kind of thinking, but marking foods as ‘bad’ only leads to guilt and shame whenever you ‘cheat’ or ‘break the rules’ and have it.

It’s best to

Trust me- no, no you do not. I know I’m sounding like a robot, but I was 12 and was put into weight watchers and it messed me up for a long time. It took two decades for me to sort that stuff out and gain a healthy relationship with food. Apps like this are freakin’ horrific, and take me back to all the spread sheets

Honestly, the people who support this kind of thing disgust me, and I hope to the heavens they don’t have kids. Or if they do, they get their act together.

I was a kid who was put into weight watchers and no, it’s not good and it messed up my relationship with food for a long time.

As someone who was in Weight Watchers as a kid-

No. HECK No. This Is Bad and F Everyone Who Thinks Kids!!! Need To Learn This Way.

Let’s face it- good parents wouldn’t do this to their kids, and no kid is going to download it themselves in a healthy way.

My mom put me in Weight Watchers and it effed up my relationship

I always hate when people write hot take articles projecting The Most Recent Trends In Modern Feminism against characters written decades ago with 0 self awareness or examination of what the characters’ arcs were or what the world was like at that time, or you know, what the author’s own life was like.
