She was 7. I’m no fan of Lena Dunham and her white feminism garbage but it’s frustrating when ppl just follow along with what they heard on the internet. It wasn’t sexual abuse—it wasn’t sexual, and it wasn’t abusive, and this idea was started by a right-wing blog. Let’s not be like a right-wing blog and bring up

I finally found this thread early early enough to *maybe* not be totally buried! The most intensely creepy thing that’s ever happened to me is also the most oddly beautiful.

I had the exact same reaction, especially after the Huff Post piece made such a big deal of having the people featured choose their own photos and how they were portrayed. That was powerful, this is disappointing.

Really, with the picture? It’s one step up from the “headless fatty” pics used to dehumanize fat people all the time in the media.

Well, no, the term was coined by a straight cisgender male who was a physician and sociologist, not by the trans community. It literally just means the opposite of trans (the Latin-derived prefix cis- means “on this side of,” whereas trans- means “across from” or “on the other side of”).

If you think it’s either right or smart to use the police department as enforcers of your unwritten rules of social mores, you’re the fucking problem.

Anyone who corrects a stranger on the internet about the name of a video game character deserves to be trolled.

Looks shopped to me. I can tell from some of the pixels and having seen quite a few shops in my time.

This is a common misconception. Zelda is the scientist. You’re thinking of Zelda’s Monster.

Literally anyone could have written that false information. Your sources are suspect.

Nice try at diversion but driving out a couple of squatters is hardly what I was talking about (which I see you also edited into your earlier post).

That’s not being savvy, that’s being opportunistic. A subtle but very important distinction.

Yes they are all part of the problem. People “flipping houses” are buying up cheap housing stock and making it impossible for locals to buy which pushes up the housing costs of everyone in the area.

I agree with Elephant. Part of the reason the South is so “backward” is because the schools are underfunded and education isn’t seen as a priority. I was the first generation of my family to not skip school for farm work; my parents wouldn’t allow it.

“So, you assume every person who has a tenuous grasp of grammar has a learning disability?”

criticize donald trump for his ideas and rhetoric of hate, but not his grammar. that kind of snark is a part of the reason that the right is so anti-intellectual and anti-information now. when people are put down and belittled, they lash out. it alienates people, and it should. it’s pure snobbery.

some people are poorly educated because they’re poor: thus, classism.

we really shouldn’t drag people for bad grammar, even garbage people like paris hilton, because it reinforces classism and ableism

I found out my ex was cheating when I was 8 months pregnant. I locked down emotionally and decided I could stick it out for two years, instead of taking my toddler and soon-to-be-newborn and trying to manage on my own. I was a SAHM so I frankly needed that financial security.

Except that response is almost two months afterwards. She ignored the pic and tried to make conversation at a later date.
