She probably knows it won’t sell at his Crack Pipe asking price, and has already moved out and retained a divorce attorney.

A quick search confirmed that I was mistaken in my belief that S-Trucks could be had with Ecotec engines.

Never thought of it like that! Their official car would be a land barge of a Lincoln. My grandfathers were a little different; their last vehicles were a Ford Ranger and a Toyota Matrix. Neither of them served in the U.S. Navy. I did, but since my obligation ended, I have only covered my head with a hard-hat or a

True enough, and there’s always the human factor. But I think my point that assists and such are not a substitute for training, skill, and good judgment remains a very valid one. Having regularly driven the highways where the crash occurred, I would say that using auto-pilot at 9:30 AM (if indeed that was the case)

A different head, plus the additional weight, could have explained that S-10's reluctance to climb even a moderate grade. That engine, in my opinion, is much better suited for cars like the 2007 Saturn Ion I get around in. (I have to make do with what I have, and the slushbox in that car is all wrong for that engine.)

Again, not a photo of my car, but my first car was a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura 2-door hardtop.

“The little 2.2L Ecotecs are peppy little motors...”

Being a pilot likely gives you a better understanding of the system’s limitations. The average driver would probably interpret it to mean that they have carte blanche to use their phone, apply make-up, rub one out, etc. etc. while driving.

I must disagree. My preferred solution is to better train and more thoroughly vet drivers, and tighten up some of the rather lax standards they must presently comply with. Technology such as auto-pilot and collision-avoidance gizmos are subject to failure. I fear that a new generation of drivers wouldn’t know what the

Well said. Pilots are much more thoroughly vetted than regular Class C drivers.

Auto-pilot systems have absolutely zero place in an automobile. I know some of you will be saying, “but aircraft have auto-pilot systems.” I will refute that statement thus: an auto-pilot syatem in an aircraft is designed and intended to relieve the pilot of some strain during a long flight. It does not absolve a

COTD!

If you can get a story out of it, it’s a good excuse to enjoy some warm weather and take a road trip. Just negotiate the price down some, especially because you might need to supply your own wheels and tires.

Back in 2009, I was browsing the Fresno Craigslist and spotted a 1985 Honda CRX Si. It was blue with silver lower body, unmodified, and still wearing its California blue plates. The asking price was ridiculously low ($1,500 if memory serves me correctly). I didn’t even get the chance to take a look at it, and I still

Some thoughts here:

I’m not aware of any. A 13-cylinder radial would have to be a single row, and would be rather large unless each cylinder had a very small volume.

Good. I hope a bunch of nails are being hammered into coffins designated for both autonomous vehicles and Uber.

“I’d play it today, if my computer had a CD drive.”

I was not impressed with the brand-new FIAT 500 I drove in 2014; the funky bends in the clutch pedal made shifting downright uncomfortable. The little 2-door Fiesta (I think) hatchback would interest me, especially if it were sold in ST trim, or at least with a 4-cylinder engine. But no, we Americans only get
