This is just giving me flashbacks of my time on the swimteam. It’s such a nightmare for kids who aren’t thin/fit looking, regardless of the fact that we’re all swiming thousands of meters. Having to be an adolescent fat girl in those awful uniforms is a kind of torture I wouldn’t give my worst enemy.

I dont think that was a rumor.. I think thats fact actually.  Wouldnt have saved how bad that movie was, but it would have made it atleast watchable. :)  

Baldwin and Ford are the only way I can see that character. Clancy wrote a ton of Jack Ryan books by the end, but in none of them was he this. This insistence to repackage him is screwing his entire mythos.

Fun fact, I thought Tom Clancy was a video game developer until I was like 20.

In the books, and in the Ford movies, wasn’t Jack Ryan an analyst who found himself forced into 007 things?  And wasn’t the fact that no matter what else he got mixed up in he was at heart just an analyst kind of important to the character?

The general rule seems to be, the whiter the bad guys the better the story. If the villains are middle eastern, they might as well be Uruk-hai with turbans.

Red October is the only Clancy novel that still holds up. The rest are a pile of ol’ wank.

It is sour crude. So it is not nearly as worth as much as people think. It must be refined more than lighter crude. The higher sulfur content is highly damaging to equipment and the environment.
So to even export the crude, they must import light crude to basically cut it.

ever watch that Horse Soldiers movie, or the Chris Kyle And His Plastic Baby one? suffers from a lot of the same problems.

I love The Hunt for Red October and its version of Jack Ryan. It’s a great story about one nerd being in the right place at the right time with a head full of nerd knowledge that’s perfect for solving one situation.

China would make a good bad guy, they actually would be perfect for it..  One small problem tho, they are the biggest consumers of our mass media. :)  

Man, it was SO much easier to make movies fighting bad guys during the Cold War.

Even the 2012 Red Dawn movie has this problem. Yes, you must suspend your sense of disbelief for all films, but for that one, you have to believe that the nation of North Korea, a nation that can’t even make a sandwhich, invented a super…
