I actually took a class in college where we drilled down to like the very specific theology and moral principle that tells us, yes, as Catholics, abortion is wrong. I fully understand it, I get it.

A friend of mine posted a bible verse today on fb that says the baby breathes in life once they are born, and not a moment before that. So even the religious argument is bullshit. Their own book says life doesn’t begin until the baby is outside of the mother.

This is my view too. To focus on why a bunch of cells is not a person. Women are viscerally involved in the abortion discussion, while men, in my experience, lean back and wax poetic about souls and the like.

Or argue that according to Genesis Adam gained life when he took his first breath (referred to as the breath of life) and nowhere else in the bible does it state the contrary (surprising for a book full of contradictions). So no breath, no life, and therefore no soul.

The problem I see with this post is that many of the men in question aren’t trying to save fetuses. They are trying to save souls. They are convinced that the unborn don’t go to Heaven (TM), and that they are fulfilling God’s will. They don’t talk about it, because then it would be seen as what it is - an assault on…

I got yelled at by a woman today who calls herself "pro-God, pro-gun, pro-life." Without a trace of irony. I kind of wonder what she thinks guns are FOR. 

And there is the problem. For a lot of them this isn’t about the physical world - this is about the spiritual world. This is about grasping at faith. You will never convince them that what they are doing isn’t right in the eyes of whatever god they believe in.
