I feel like the episode didn’t do a great job of reminding us why “Kara Danvers” is important, aside from how much her friends and family missed her. As viewers we could see that she was just going through the motions as Supergirl, but it didn’t really seem to hamper her effectiveness at all—if anything, you could

I don’t think that’s supposed to be Rhea, but rather Kara’s mother. I could be wrong.

I think Kara’s going to be back to normal next episode. She seemed to be at the end of this episode anyway.

“She’s simply hardened herself against the grief of losing Mon-El.”

I feel like the show is going to do the same thing it did with Cat, and reveal after seasons of ambiguity that Lena knew Kara was Supergirl all along. I certainly hope so , as anything else would be stupid as well as emotionally unintelligible.

I suspect that us being told that Snapper is “on sabbatical” in this episode is shorthand for us never seeing him again—and think that he had basically fulfilled his role on the show by training Kara to be a journalist, so he wasn’t really necessary any more.

Carter and Flockhart, the combination I never knew I absolutely must have on TV. Someone must make this happen. Whomever needs to be romanced, bribed or killed, I will gladly do what I can here.

Without Cat Grant around, Snapper provides a much-needed “I don’t care if I’m on a CW show - get your relationship drama out of my office” voice for the show.

This show does a good job dropping things that don’t work, such as James and Kara dating. But it also doesn’t know when to let go, such as James as Guardian.

James, uh, might not work on this show.

That was literally a great episode, even liked James.

Imagine a walk-and-talk West Wing scene with Carter and Flockhart. IMAGINE IT.

Is Snapper coming back? I loved the actor on Cougar Town, but I’m not sure he’s necessary in this ensemble (would trade him in a heartbeat for James, though)

Alex begging Hank not to cry (both actors were wonderful in that scene) because she would lose it if she did (and then everyone at DEO would know that they COULD cry) was helpful to me personally as well.

I think it is just a natural place to go in any superhero tale. You cannot have a hero just save the day and shrug off loses without the character not seeming like a real person. Anyone who fights bad guys and loses family/ friends/lovers without a few episodes of “mopey-ness” would just not be real. The Flash screwed

These people sure are calm for a bunch of people who poisoned themselves and their planet with irreversible lead poisoning.

So now that Talbot’s found the portal-between-universes that Vasquez/Piper has been using, does this mean more people will start crossing over?

I’m not sure turning Kara into Season Three Barry Allen is such a great idea. Why do these shows insist on making anyone fun and joyful into mopey jerks?

My only substantive disagreement with the review is that by framing Kara’s troubles entirely through the lens of losing Mon-El, they are once again prioritizing

Yeah as Caroline said Kara in this episode was like a slightly less vicious version of evil Red Kryptonite Kara, which Melissa Benoist is unnervingly good at. But I am glad that normal Kara seems to be back since I missed her so much.

I was relieved when mopey Kara was over at the end of the episode - I know it’s in her wheelhouse, but it’s not what I watch the show for.

You don’t see enough “action pose” statues these days.
