The loot boxes didn’t exist when the legal definition of gambling was first set in stone. And whether or not they fit the legal definition is a meaningless point. The reason why gambling became so heavily regulated is because of the manipulative tactics used by casinos to con as much money out of their consumers as

It’s not technically gambling because loot boxes didn’t exist when the legal definition of gambling was set in stone. This adherence to the outdated legal definition of gambling nothing more than developers and publishers taking advantage of a legal loop hole so that they can prey on those with addictive tendencies.

“While there’s an element of chance in these mechanics, the player is always guaranteed to receive in-game content (even if the player unfortunately receives something they don’t want). We think of it as a similar principle to collectible card games: Sometimes you’ll open a pack and get a brand new holographic

“Although the word “kek” originated as a World of Warcraft meme, it has since been repurposed by alt-right internet denizens as a symbol of white nationalism, not unlike Pepe the Frog. As the Southern Poverty Law Center points out, alt-right protesters have carried this flag at various rallies and demonstrations”

I think the only people with real racial issues are those who give those words such gravitas as to perpetuate their negative meaning. Meaning you are the only one giving those words power by letting it bother you so much as to justify dishonest means to shut it down.

Just because there is no current law against it doesn’t mean that what they are doing isn’t wrong. Bungie is preying on people predisposed to gambling addiction with their current loot box setup. They expose minors to gambling whether they mean to or not. It is a very despicable practice and we need to call it out

RNG with in game mechanics and currency isn’t gambling. Spending real world money to get RNG rewards is. If they never created loot boxes that you could pay cash to obtain, I would have no problem with it.

It’s still gambling regardless of whether you get a real world cash reward. You are still spending your money for a chance at getting something you want. It prays on the exact same type of habits that casinos pray on. Except they don’t give you a real world cash payout if you win. That’s more insidious if you ask me.

Yeah, what is being done here is not an acceptable solution to that problem. And the fact that they tied the system to their real world money gambling system doesn’t suggest that they did it for the good of their players.

The difference being, there are laws preventing casinos from letting minors gamble. Not so much for video games which are often advertised to minors. It’s gambling without all the legal litigation that casinos have to go through. And most of that litigation is there to protect people from practices that prey on

For some people, the customization of their character in the game is something that they really enjoy. Just because it isn’t something that you find a priority, doesn’t mean it isn’t a priority for others. Think about an aspect of the game you like, now imagine Bungie locking parts of that aspect behind a RNG paywall.

Living in the Dallas area, and the price gouging got as high as 10$ per gallon of regular on Friday. Good thing I had the foresight to top off my tank before the hurricane hit cause it’s probably only going to get worse until the facilities in Houston get back up and running.

If you have a problem with it, then don’t let your kids go online until they are mature enough to handle the internet. Or at the very least, restrict their ability to interact with other adults. Everyone gets bullied online. If a kid is allowed unfiltered access to the internet, then it is the parent’s fault for

“Maybe your players don’t feel comfortable romancing NPCs because you’ve created too limited of an atmosphere and they don’t realize how open ended their options are.”

I’ve never really done a quest where you have to save someone’s significant other because it is an eye rolling trope. The only times a character’s sexuality has ever come up for me is when my D&D group was screwing around with The Book of Erotic Fantasy, when someone played a lecherous monk that ended up seducing a
