In this week’s SI, there’s a quote that really struck me:

My best friend and college roommate for three years is a conservative, and was a member of the college Republicans. He was (and is) an exemplary conservative and one whom I wish the party was full of.

I like to compress them down into diamonds, which I then wear.

Is there where I get to complain about how *after* I quit my job at Bank of America, I found out I was blocked from a promotion because, despite my boss, his boss, and several peers recommending me enthusiastically, the boss above them had an uncomfortable boner for me and said my attire was inappropriate?

Honestly? I can’t even imagine this. As a teenager, hell, even as an adult, I was always hesitant to approach (i.e. never really did) someone I didn’t really know because I never wanted to make her uncomfortable. Because in reality, even if you’re the nicest guy in the world, you’re still a stranger who’s suddenly

Good. Asking questions is good.

Being forced to constantly play a gender you don’t want to in video games. I can’t imagine what that is like.

For the record when people say “New York Values” they mean white and black and brown people living next door to each other. Gays freely walking the streets and going to bars to enjoy themselves. Muslims, jews, christians, atheists, all shopping, dining, etc together. Everyone living the lives they want without trying
