I basically listen to music on my computer only while doing other tasks (gaming, work, etc) and Media Monkey has never once crashed or caused my other programs to run slowly. Couple that with it's excellent library tools and it's a winner.

Based on the overwhelming amount to total bullshit that's passed off as fact on the interwebz, I'd say your thesis that people are better off "going it alone" is deeply flawed. Education is somewhat teaching facts, but much more about teaching you how to think critically and establish what is a fact on your own.
