Agreed, but it’s less insane than moving tons of Earth for a relatively small amount of it, while fueling strife in Africa and other areas where diamond mines exist.

My wife told me that if I bought her a diamond or any kind of gem, she would’ve liked it to be lab made. She understands the social and environmental impacts of diamond mining. But, as it is, we forewent the rings anyway and got tattoos.

It’s so fucking insane that we still do this when we can develop diamonds in a lab for much less money and much less environmental cost.
