Particularly since most of the rest of the world advocates huge governments and huge government programs and hobbles along a just above poverty for everyone.

I wouldn’t want to see US political interests handed over to international bureaucrats, either, so I can imagine that the British didn’t like that prospect.
“National sovereignty has been an issue as long as there have been nations.”
As an American, it is hard enough to do that with a federalist system that has state governments with specific enumerated powers, and how they interact with federal domestic policies, because generally the Midwest, mountain west, and southern states are significantly different than the eastern seaboard, the…
Unfortunately, this is the issue. It is a problem of margins. If the margins evaporate because of economic drag caused by tariffs then British jobs linked to the car industry will move out of the country. But I’m sure that “sovereignty soup” will fill the belly just fine.
The problem is that the ‘once its sorted part’ will likely mean the UK is in shambles because it is no longer economically viable to have as much business there.
I’m very curious about why you think being “British” is actually any different to being “European” and why you think one random set of laws and borders is in any way inherently superior to another. Why do you think it is better to be governed by Westminster instead of Brussels? Why better to be governed by D.C. than…
Bill Gates, the man who brought the world such unmitigated triumphs as Microsoft Bob and the Zune vaccines which have saved over 100 million lives...
Too bad, Bill’s quite famously incredibly-well read and just an amazing conversationalist. The stories of him, Buffett, Graham and their exploits and anecdotes over their bridge games are legend.
The man behind “Don’t Doubt UR Vibe” probably shouldn’t be calling anything underwhelming for a while yet.
It’s worth noting that early Microsoft guy Jon Shirley has you covered.
We have amazing pocket computers and really great television and excellent sushi and also if you’re a billionaire and you do something another billionaire doesn’t like, such as buying an electric car from some company not owned by the first billionaire, we have global data networks you can use to be petulant about it
I would say that simply stopping to make the phone call to your Porsche Dealer likely cost Bill Gates more money than the car was worth. He makes something like $23k a minute.
Musk and many of his Teslarians have this attitude to almost every other EV driver as well.
Bill Gates simply wanted the better electric car with an actual interior. Not the model 3 deprivation tank.
Elon Musk: “Bill Gates still uses a PC, can you believe this guy?! Like has he never heard of Apple?”
Not really a classy reaction from Elon, tbh.
Super rich guy buys Taycan because he is a VIP Porsche owner and was therefore put near the top of the delivery list and because buying a Taycan is the financial equivalent of the Average American buying a pack of gum*
Arnold Schwarzenegger- Buys Hummer EV
Bill Gates literally financed a campaign to get congress to change the import laws so he could have a 959 and Elon Musk had a McLaren F1, these guys like cars. Sorry their taste doesn’t stack up for you.
