Two men were banned from flying with an airline because they got drunk and started making racist statements towards the indigenous people in the plane. Thunder Bay is a cesspool for racism. Hell, I live in Toronto and had a car full of white guys yell the n-word at me while I walking walking down the street. If you're

Bu.. bu.. but, we live in a post-race society. We have a sexy, feminist Prime Minister, and a sexy, South Asian Minister of Defense, and we happily welcome immigrants, and...and... [stops to considers the fact said immigrants come as doctors, but end up cleaning toilets, and racist Quebec laws, and *very* current abyss

But that’s still not disenfranchisement. It may be disillusionment, disaffection, discouragement, and disappointment, but it’s not disenfranchisement. I’m not saying we shouldn’t attempt to empathize with them, but that cannot patronize them.

Canada is really not much better. Our political system is slightly less broken, and we have slightly better social welfare systems. Otherwise, our people are just as garbage.

I read the story and it hit me....it reminded me why as a Latino, I decided not to have children. I remember all the times I was attacked - physicially - multiple times as a child because I was a Latino ( I can still remember the kids yelling die spic die). I’ve had my arm broken, been repeatedly beaten....and what

As someone also living in Canada, in a town where a woman was intentionally hit by a trailer hitch thrown from a vehicle because she was walking while Indigenous, I unfortunately am disgusted but not surprised. This isn’t just a Trump problem.

I just noticed the name “Abby Huntsman” and did a double-take. Former Fox News personality, daughter of Trump’s (recently former) ambassador to Russia, granddaughter of a billionaire plastics manufacturer who served in the Nixon Administration?

Can we stop conflating choosing not to participate and being “disenfranchised”? They aren’t the same thing. Disenfranchisement is when you are denied a voice or role in the democratic process. As disheartening as not being able to develop a real sense of connection with a candidate or developing one with a candidate

Why are you ashamed? You can like him and think he’s on to something, but still not want to vote for him.

Why not Bernie?” I ask the couple dozen people I interview from the front, back, and middle of the line. As if reading from a script they tell me it’s because Bernie has promised everyone government jobs

He’s already confirmed your worry, his plan would be to give a choice of which plan you want to take between UBI and other social programs. His argument is that UBI is a greater benefit than the other programs, but the people receiving assistance are the ones that need UBI most, along with their existing programs.

i’m with you on the Warren train. but i’m glad that Yang is still around. like Inslee, one-issue candidates are important to have on the stage, because they will keep that narrative going and make the other candidates form a position on the issue. i don’t think Yang is wrong in his prognostication, i work in tech and

“Amount is so small I not sure it would really help with these problems.”

I still think it’s important to understand the Yang supporter; who basically seem like the politically naive, but also disenfranchised.  Because whomever is the eventual nominee needs to learn how to reach them; every vote counts.

I’m really hopeful from this review and another I read that this will be all KINDS of Showgirls bad, in the best way! And by next Christmas there will be a boxset including drinking games and accessories for group sing along watches!

I not sure how I feel about the Freedom Dividend but there is argument that this particularly good policy for women.

Yang is a great illustration of what happens when a tech guy is capable of recognizing problems (and knowing that business as usual is insufficient to meet them) but having none of the ideological or historical grounding to offer anything but the shallowest “disruptive” solutions. His fans are some of the strangest,

I don’t know why I have such a deep dislike for this whole Cats situation.

Sounds positively awful. Like spending time with the Bernie most faithful mixed up with Tulsi's Uber fans.

Why don’t they have cat eyes!?! Would it have helped make it less weird? Probably not but still...they should at least have cat eyes! Cat eye contacts are easy to buy.
