Do you have a thuderbolt? IIRC it's the phone LTE phone that supports that, as it does voice over 3G and data over 4G (or it may be the other way 'round, but that doesn't make much sense).
If you're on Verizon or Sprint, or any other network that doesn't support simultaneous voice and data, and are not connected to a WiFi network, Thrutu attempts to send information via SMS.
You'll need a Wifi network.
