In retrospect, I should have responded to the person pointing out that Skyrim is a single player game that the OP probably meant they enjoy playing games alone, not necessarily single-player games.

Ion Hazzikostas of Blizzard expressed similar views regarding designing a game (in his case, WoW) in today’s environment where information about “optimal” playstyles is readily accessible. To quote:

TVM is exactly why you defer payments and take the longest 0% loans you can on a car. Why rush to dump money into a rapidly-depreciating asset?
But I also drive my cars for a long time. The risk of a longer-dated loan is really in the earlier years if you decide to sell or trade it. If the intent is to drive it until it’s paid off then these programs are outstanding.
It’s easier to digest if you accept the article for its intended audience: new car buyers who still can’t calculate a total purchase price, falsely believing that lower payments will allow them to buy more car than they can actually afford.
