Meanwhile, I’ve been stopped twice after a full-body scan due to a metal clasp on my bra. Both have resulted in me standing around waiting for a female employee to come by to check, and one even mistook my rib cage for a suspicious object and had to call her supervisor over to double-check. Wasn’t even wearing bulky

My company is similar, but I don’t think it’s officially mapped out. The accrued PTO maximum is pretty close to the annual allotment (19 days allotted, but max 24 accrued), so you have to use a few days here or there every year to avoid losing the extra days.

Same policy here. I really wish they would set aside a certain amount specifically for “sick.”

What cooker do you use, and how much rice do you make at once? We’re usually making 2-3 cups of dry rice at a time.

Same. I thought it was an Accord from the front, but the rear looked like a Civic, then taillights threw me for a loop.

My feelings exactly. Didn’t Geguri have to play a live game, on camera in an eSports studio, to prove that she was actually as good as she is on Zarya? Even then, I wouldn’t be surprised if some conspiracy theorists believe the footage to be doctored.

I’ve been doing 1c Kokuho Rose + 1c water and then hitting the “Rice” function and a 15-20 minute natural release with pretty good results. I personally like my rice a little wetter, so I go with 3/4c + 1c water, but the ratio is generally close to 1:1.

This. It takes closer to 30-40 minutes, depending on volume and rest time. Still faster than rice cookers, but not as fast as some people make it out to be.

Weird. It worked so well for Deadpool, though!

When I asked Amazon customer service about it they tried to convince me that “Two-day shipping” only means two days from the day it ships, and it could take weeks to get the item to the actual shipping stage.

A lot of definitions can be loosened up with a healthy dose of irony :)

Fun story: I squashed my first gen iPad Pro in a car door about 3 months after I got it. The case took the brunt of the damage, but there was a pretty obvious bend to it. We took it to the Apple store and the guy shrugged, then asked if he could try to fix it— by bending it back against the table edge.

You’d only get about 4 miles/hour of range with a 120V, so if you’re driving <30 miles a day, an overnight charge would be fine. If you’re driving farther, you’ll have to budget your miles a little more carefully (maybe charging longer/driving less on weekends, or finding a charger near work).

Oh noooo. FWIW, it’s his damn fault for assuming that you were equipped to handle cooking 20 freakin’ steaks on site.

Re: not bringing flowers to a party, don’t bring anything that would require extra work on the host’s part. One time, Mr. Craycrayfish wanted to bring fresh lemonade to a party that was 20 minutes away. Like, squeeze-it-before-their-very-eyes fresh. We showed up with a bag of lemons and he proceeded to ask if he could

Maybe the only situation where I’d pay a little extra for the UPS pick-up option instead of the usual drop-off.

Now that I look more into it, it seems like the differences between empathy and sympathy have become way more muddled than when I first learned about it in grade school decades ago (and maybe my schoolteachers were just trying to oversimplify), and arguing one definition or the other would come off as pedantic.

There should probably be bigger distinction between empathy and sympathy because the two words are often used interchangeably, but they’re actually describing different types of emotional engagement. Or, we just accept that many people use empathy when they’re actually describing sympathy.

Yep. Cussing has to be done in small doses to have weight, otherwise they’re just another filler word like “um,” except marginally less pleasant to hear in excess.

Get your night-vision goggles out, folks, or else you may miss somthing.
