Telling the story of how you got the promotion doesn’t really help your agenda of claiming racism in the workplace.

You’re suffering from some serious confirmation bias, my friend. People get passed up for promotions all the time for reasons that can often be hard to quantify by just looking at their qualifications. Assuming it was “racism” because the person who originally was offered the job was white doesn’t make it so.

Um... Hollywood is insanely profitable and citing a few (completely true!) examples to the contrary doesn’t change reality. Would The Departed have been the same success it was without DiCaprio, Wahlberg, and Sheen? Nope. Hollywood, like all businesses is about calculated risk. Scarlett is a smart calculated risk.

Well, first, no one is denying a Japanese actress the lead role in this movie. It’s simply that American audiences don’t want to see a relatively unknown lead in a big budget movie like this. There is nothing the producers can do to change that, and forcing a Japanese actress into this role because it’s the “right”

No argument that most of what comes out of Hollywood these days is garbage, I think we would all like to see better movies. But in the case of this particular project, whether it ends up being good or bad (I’m betting on bad), there is simply no way it would get made with a Japanese actress in the lead role.

I’m asking you what alternative solution you’re proposing. Seemed obvious enough, but no big deal

The answer to that question is a complex one, as I’m sure you know. But at the end of the day, right or wrong, that’s how it currently is. Attempting to cast a Japanese actress in this picture wouldn’t help the situation, the picture simply wouldn’t be made if that was the requirement.

But that’s not what is happening here, so save your outrage for when it does.

Because the Asians need saving! They don't have the strength to defend themselves!

It’s not really about dubious statistics. There are currently no A-list Japanese actresses in America. American audiences want to see someone they’re familiar with in this movie (and most other big budget movies), so the choice was made.

Funny that the Japanese people don’t seem to care. And perhaps they’re offended and perplexed by your strange need to defend them.

Why did you leave out Chinese and Japanese?

So... Just don’t make the movie?

Calling the casting in this movie “racism” cheapens the word and is an insult to those who have experienced real racism in their lives.

There are no racist implications here. If the movie is going to get made, it needs a star who can bring in views. If they had attempted to cast a Japanese actress the film simply wouldn’t get made.

While it’s disappointing that a Japanese actress wasn’t cast, I’d be curious to know who you think would have been a good choice.

Then who should have been cast? Tamlyn Tomita?

Well, it will have been a year and a half since launch when the third OS version is released, so it’s not really that bad.

Cows and chickens aren’t bordering on extinction

You’re a human piece of trash. Ignoring the fact that you couldn’t tell that “Bman...” was being sarcastic, what was the reason that you felt his/her race was important?
