it WOULD explain why they'd never watched it.

Well, the first one is a riff on 1960s schtick, so it was sort of "pre-aged". As a result, it hasn't really dated (but it was always going to be better if you got the stuff it was riffing on, anyway).
Avoid those sequels, though.

Carvey has said that one of the reasons they felt free to do more adult material on the show was because none of them had actually watched HOME IMPROVEMENT, and they had no idea it was a "family" show (they thought it was closer in tone to Tim Allen's stand-up act).

That's not our key demo. Those guys just pirate it off the internet.

There's actually a campaign on to release a "restored:" version of THING 2011.

But what about…. The Armenian Money Train?

Well, given that they've explicitly stated that it ISN'T part of the Warners/DC films, and that it will be released as a New Line film and aimed at a family audience… it certainly stands a better chance than AQUAMAN.

Nick Offerman's FARGO character is reportedly related to John Goodman's LEBOWSKI character.

Yes, but as "Honeyboy Wilson".

To be fair, the basic idea - "some dudes have a map that lets them go anywhere and do anything"- pretty much screams out for an ongoing series.
(i mean, come on, DOCTOR WHO got pretty good milage out of something similar)
