So? All the directors Roth wants to imitate gave the finger to the MPAA; why doesn't HE man up and do the same?
"THE PLANET OF THE ELIS WAS EARTH ALL ALONG!":
There's nothing "moral" about his outrage.
He had his priorities straight, I'll give him that.
Putting gratuitous political commentary in, whether it fits or not, is basically bad writing by definition.
I do recall a critic (who insisted that he was basically sympatico with Clancy's political views) complaining about how the politics started to ruin the books (he had a great line about how readers didn't want poorly thought out lectures on geopolitics, dammit; they wanted well researched lectures on technology!)

B+W is incredibly kind to low budget production values. the "Don't Open Til Doomsday" episode of OL has a really crude puppet monster… but the way they photograph it, it is HORRIFYING. It's just the TEXTURE of it!
Macy and Cranston as "The Brothers Kolchak".
(special guest appearance: Dennis Leary as "The Guy In The Really Unconvincing Lizard Suit From That One Episode")
(Kevin Spacey darts eyes from side to side)
