Frankly, he's too old to waste his time doing films he isn't fully emotionally committed to. (Which is why I actually doubt this rumor)

A history of spectacular fuck-ups tends to make people lose faith.
If it's any consulation, I'm sure Marvel will catch up.

The simple fact is: The more installments they do, the less freedom there'll be. (that's always been the curse of series fiction that gets passed from creator to creator, in any medium).

Also,Max just SEEMED more dominant in the other films because (let's be honest) Mel Gibson just commanded an audience's attention in a way Tom Hardy doesn't.
I mean, sure, NOW we all think of him as a creepazoid… but there was a REASON he was one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Back in the day, the dude had

He's better suited to TV, where they can't have a destruction derby each week, and it turns into "how will Superman solve THIS problem?"
I mean, with his powers, the only challenges are the ones he has to THINK his way through, anyway.

Just straight out turn it into a NEW GODS adaptation (those characters are tightly linked to Superman, anyway).
Basically, lose everything BUT Cavill, call it SUPERMAN: APOCALYPSE, and let George Miller go nuts with Jack Kirby characters.
THAT would be a meeting of minds.

No, saying that you think HAPPY FEET 2 will suck because you didn't like HAPPY FEET would be a valid comparison.
Expressing the opinion that George Miller's talents would be wasted doing a direct sequel to an inferior filmmaker's film when he could be doing his own projects is… well, frankly, it's just common sense.

Miller could do an excellent superhero movie… if he was given creative control and a chance to start from scratch. Making a movie explicitly designed as a sequel to MAN OF STEEL won't give him either.

"Can you imagine another studio letting Miller make Fury Road the way that he did?"

Of COURSE Warners will handcuff him.
Miller should turn this down for the exact same reason Kathryn Bigelow turned down WONDER WOMAN: because it's a goddamn insult to ask a world-class director to lick up Zack Snyder's sloppy seconds.

If Gene Siskel calling it "The Best Film Of The Year" is underrated.

Except that it's so totally George Miller's baby.
It would be like if somebody revived the "Man With No Name" films: because Sergio Leone was just another replacable cog, right?

If Miller REALLY wants to do a big studio franchise film, he'd be much better off calling up Disney and asking him how serious they are about doing that Indiana Jones reboot.

Hey, they launched their "cinematic universe" with a film where Superman is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, and are following it up with a movie whose entire premise is "hey, let's remind people that Superman is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people". And the film's advertising slogan is

Universal pulled a similar "let's replace these top-of-the-line practical effects" trick on Rick Baker's work in the WOLFMAN remake.

I'm actually sad he hasn't had the chance to say more of Mignola's dialogue verbatim; I can hear his voice very clearly in my head when I read phrases like "Well, so much for THAT little guy."

Everyone praises Mike Mignola's HELLBOY for it's art and it's atmosphere and it's worldbuilding, but it doesn't get NEARLY enough credit for it's quotability; the phrase "Listen , lady, I was going to cut you some slack because you're a major mythological figure, but now you're just pissing me off!" may be hard to fit

well, a PUPPY.

I'm absolitely certain Henry Cavill would much rather be doing sequels to UNCLE than sequels to MOS.
Especially if he gets to keep all his costumes.
