Actually there was a 351 cleveland, then a 400 based off the cleveland. Then a 351M based off the 400 that was based off the 351C which ended up replacing the 351C. Also Ford actually never called any engine a big or small block, but rather had engine “families”

The method of storing charge would most likely be a sort of super capacitor, which can be charger quickly, but also drain down quicker than batteries. Similar systems have been used on smaller buses.
