Yeah I haven’t checked in a while. I see that the plain turbo is 160k before any option/tax so that’s 35k instead of 20k. Still, I’d think when someone is blowing 125k+ on a car, the size of their disposable income amount should mean paying another 35k is not a huge step up.

Yeah but we can’t find the 300 SL at used dealer lot either so there :P

I didn’t think the FWD pre ‘09 TL was that good; The steering was way too heavy for no good reason(not like I was steering a spritely sedan), and there was just no power from that 3.2L when there were more than 2 ppl on board. I mean my DD camry with its 3.5L V6 is way faster, and doesn’t need premium fuel. Meh.

It went downhill when they got the guy from the Bay area writing articles, which thankfully didn’t last very long. But yeah, when it was implied that damaged unibody can be repaired to as new just by bending it back, it was time for me to stop reading for sake of learning. Umm Okay...

The Chrysler xfire shared the platform with the first gen SLK, not the SL. I think those SLKs were quite a less expensive to repair also.

I’d argue the 300 SLR was the best looking (even more so than the 300 SL) :P

Great write-up, although the crash protection in these kind of put me off in driving one, especially as DD.

No doubt about it; You’re a terrible person LOL

Anodyne? I thought you’d use clinical. Anodyne sounds even more mundane lol Funny enough according to C/D’s F-type R/AMG GT S/911 GTS comparo, the AMG GTS is the loudest at idle AND 70mph. So at least by that metric the GT S beats the F-type R, and probably as loud as the SVR ver.

3900lbs+. What a freakin heavy coupe.

I’d take the 911 turbo/s over this any day of the week. At this price the 20k diff is insignificant. If I must get a long hood car, might as well get an AMG GTS since that’s more cool looking and a whopping 300lb+ lighter, and goes fractionally slower top speed-wise. This is just a bleh car, even in SVR ‘guise.

‘Tis a guy who feels the need to bash a car because he cares too much about what ppl think.

Don’t think the current gen has that problem. The first gen and maybe the 2nd gen yes.

Hmm. I think it does, sorta. Haha. But thanks for the detailed reply. It does give me a good idea as to whether I should consider getting a cayman S/718 coupe. I do love the 981 shape. Always nice to see them on the road, especially when I’m in my DD stone-chipped camry :D

Is the steering feel better or worse than your STI? Asking because I had a ‘12 STI and that was a hydraulic steering ,whereas the 981 Cayman is electric steering.

Yeah I don’t mean to say it’s not worth getting a DB9, in fact I’d just settle for the DB9 instead of getting DBS since that’s still a porky car that’s not very fast anyway. Just for looking good, might as well just get the DB9(for the shape).

What did you upgrade to?

I liked the full of shit part before I finished your post. The last line made it even better :D

“Why buy a DBS when Tavarish himself will not?”

It’s also 4 years older. If price was much closer I’d get a newer one. I mean as it is this ‘09 is already 7 years old...
