Uhhh.... Next ticket off this planet, as far away from , ya know.... people, as possible? Thanks!

Why would you wish Nebraska on anyone?

Sounds like my mom. I think if she can taste it, it’s “too spicy.” One Thanksgiving I made a sweet potato casserole with some cayenne in it. She actually said to me, “Don’t do that again.” lol

I just cried in Texan lol. It’s sad that something as basic as black pepper can be considered to much spice. We have a family friend that grew up in Oregon, and to her pico was way to spicy.

One of my neighbours is from Nebraska. I once asked him if he had ever been overseas and he said “Yes, we have been to Hawaii”. I guess that is technically overseas, but not really what I meant. He continued to tell me that while it was beautiful there, they didn’t like the food.

Real Talk: I overheard extended family complaining once that a mac n cheese was too spicy at a potluck. the only seasoning was black pepper.

you forgot Paprika for deviled eggs, which comes from a tin that has been in the family for at least 60 years.

I ordered a hot chicken sandwich at Hotboys in Indianapolis. The lady didn’t want to sell it to me, telling me “medium” was plenty hot for most (white) people, until I told her I was visiting from Texas.  To be fair, it was pretty damned spicy, but now I’m craving one.

Yup.  There’s a reason I ask “is it spicy? Or is it ‘Midwest spicy?’”

The midwest has plenty of seasonings: cream cheese, ranch, sugar

sounds about right, the midwestern pallet is weird. I don’t know if there was some kind of spice shortage right when all our regional dishes were being created but anything unique to the midwest is generally bland as hell and the uniqueness comes from the preparation. For instance the Indiana specialty of the pork

Have you met white people?

They still don’t hold a candle to the minimalist vision that is Bob’s bathroom.

That’s the determination I look for in all my dates.

Get me one too.

This style of milk shake actually does sound really good. And if it is as hot as described (never been to Utah) it does make sense. Though, as much product as you get, may be better consumed with friend.

I think poke is a much harder sell in places east of Nevada than Hawaiian barbecue. Lots of people can’t get past the raw fish part (even if there are other, non raw protein options). I mean, I like sushi and I wasn’t really able to get behind the fast casual poke stuff that cropped up near me in the Midwest. There
