Wait until these people learn about all the rules that restaurants had to follow for sanitation purposes BEFORE Covid!  Hairnets are un-American, I tells ya!

^^^ This. Coco is by far the most beautiful thing they’ve done. But Ratatouille is a very close second, in my book.

I’ll second the recommendation for ThermoPro, although I’ve never had anything thrown at me in a kitchen, so take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

When someone hops on the entitlement train, I always say, “You’re unique, just like everybody else.”  It’s amazing how few people get the joke and think I’m affirming their right to be awful.

Understood, Lurker. If you ask nicely and have a good reason, I think even now most servers will bend over backwards to accommodate special requests.  It’s the ones who feel entitled that are the issue.

I was worried the first time, too, but our local Mexican restaurant had really done their due diligence. They physically removed tables to make the spacing work, the servers all wear masks, the menus are disposable and there are no refills or condiments without asking. Even with people around, having the spacing

I can count the number of times I’ve been in a Blockbuster on one hand. And I’ve never once been in a Hollywood Video. Nope, we had “Movie Gallery” which apparently was the second largest rental chain in America. They purchased Hollywood Video in ~2005 according to Wikipedia.

It’s not just people without smartphones and old folks who can’t do anything except launch Facebook… There are quite a few restaurants around here that are dead-zones for certain carriers.  Several of them steadfastly refuse to install free wi-fi (which is completely understandable considering the headaches it can

I’ve had Raisin’ Canes a few times now and every time I found their chicken to be not just bland but also excessively greasy. I don’t remember the dipping sauces at all. They seem like a “Zaxby’s, but more limited” also-ran.

Leaktaker.

I keep a reserve of the non-stick stuff strictly for the toaster oven, where things routinely will stick to the non-stick pan that came with it.  It’s wonderful.

Memphis/Nashville, Iceberg/Goldberg

I knew about it as a kid, but for the wrong reasons: it was always in the news over all the partying and property destruction that would happen in Atlanta on Juneteenth. For a long time I thought it was just a “black spring break” that got out of hand each year.  It wasn’t until about 20 years ago that I learned what

I wish I’d seen this in the theater, too.  But even streaming on Netflix it left a lasting impression.  So much so that when I finally ponied up the dough for a 4k/HDR Blu-ray player (my home internet connection isn’t quite good enough for reliable 4k streaming), this was my first movie purchase.

It took me a few beats longer than it should have to realize that you were not referring to a place that puts gummy bears into their scrambled eggs.

I vaguely remember some TV spots for the movie, and thinking it was a Disney direct-to-video movie from the late 90's. Seeing that is is just five years old is kind of blowing my mind, to be honest. It must have been a total blip on pop culture’s radar.

I’ve heard of the government doing this for farmers growing specific crops that already had a surplus (to keep prices from collapsing) but never because of the color of their skin. That’s crazy, but being this is 2020, it is not at all surprising.

Ah, so *that’s* what those things are called. There’s a place down the road from me near the beach that sells these but just calls them twisters… it’s off the beaten path but has garnered rave reviews online from the tourists in the know. They do both sweet and savory versions, including tuna salad, gyro and hot dogs.

I’m told I’m a comforting presence to those around me (!) therefore I am a grilled cheese.

Over in the “COPS in canceled” comments, mister calavera mentioned the podcast “Running From Cops”, which I listened to in its entirety last night. It investigates COPS but also Live PD and the results are certainly interesting. I’d definitely recommend it if you need something to fill a few hours of your schedule.
