Kind of seems like a false equivalency to be honest. There’s no law on the books stating that you have to be educated to vote and the entire purpose of making it a right for citizens is so that your vote cannot be taken away without just cause (namely being convicted of a felony). At the time almost no one was

it is odd “we” arent issued an ID, especially when the police expect everyone to produce one upon “request” and get real bent when you dont...

Those against voter ID are going about it all crabbed.

Isn’t it kind of racist to assume that it’s more difficult for minorities who are eligible to vote would have a harder time getting government issued ID?

You can also look at it as the relatively small hurdle of having an ID in order to vote means that people who value their vote will get an ID.

My comment here is not to troll, but to get an elucidation

Yes, I agree it’s not a huge problem that needs immediate fixing. I do think it would be better to integrate this hidden population by providing a means to get an ID. This is one of the issues that undocumented people face. They live under the radar and there’s no easy path out. We don’t need two societies living

I’ve asked the question before, but was in the greys so maybe no-one ever saw it, so here goes:

I completely agree with your first paragraph. The exploitation of voters in this regard is a travesty. But I wouldn’t call showing an ID a huge and burdensome amount of security. Especially considering the number of times I’ve had to show my ID in the past week. I can’t imagine how anyone can function in our society

That’s my question. Georgia has a voter’s ID that is free. You can go to any Registrar or DMV(DDS) office and get it. You have to prove who you are and where you live which shouldn’t be impossible. I live in Camden County and we have 1 DDS office and 1 Registrar’s office, so everyone has to deal with the same crap

I still don’t get why showing an ID to vote is a problem. Just saying that people are afraid to get an ID isn’t a good reason.
