Great write-up! This is a movie I get sucked into any time it's on. Even the animals onscreen are all female, I believe.

Boy, getting to say this again really takes me back to my bookselling days:

Can't think of anything funny or snarky to add; I just love this podcast. The one on Sinatra's Trilogy is a personal favorite, even if it's a bit atypical.

No link to Mojo Nixon's "Stuffin' Martha's Muffin" yet?

For me it was our wedding DJ, Ron's frequent guest Chuck T, letting me know he'd mentioned our wedding on the show back in 2005. (I loved Cosmic Slop back in the day too.) Crap From the Past has enriched my life ever since. Great to see other fans here on the AV Club. It's like someone got chocolate in my peanut

As a college professor, I assure you that, no, grades do not mean anything. Words either, really.

Yay Crap From The Past! As a longtime listener I heartily recommend it to anyone interested in the more obscure corners of pop music.

Yeah, I was surprised that Tom downplayed it's influence. I thought it was a source Anabasis for a number of films. Xenophon movie in and of itself too, of course.

Regarding the t-shirts, etc: In '89 my college marching band added "Free James Brown" to our cadence. I sang along but even at the time I remember being uncomfortable with it.

"Homer, those aren't even words!"

Buh? Jash? Huh? Wha?

Sometimes, though, you're just stuck in the middle, man.

This isn't going to be one of those threads that's just a bunch of motherfucking jokes is it?

This collection of Me Decade Mad Libs disguised as a movie…

My point exactly. How old is Alex McCown?

Me Decade? The 80s? Really?
Everyone knows that the 80s were the Al Franken Decade.

It's the fez.

"Hagsploitation is a fine and useful coinage that I had not heard before. I am happy to have been introduced to it. Great job, people who coined it.
