IIRC, a big reason they partnered up was to share the inline 6 and sports car chassis that BMW was already building.  If Toyota brought their own engine, there would be less incentive for BMW to sell them a chassis and production line capacity.

Yessir. 1976 Fleetwood Sixty Special Brougham. The last of the big Caddys.

I will never understand for the life of me why the hood and trunk were so goddamn big, but the passenger compartment so small given the overall size in the malaise era vehicles.

wow, I do not think I have ever seen one like this before. thank you, I just found one great looking car. googled, looks as good from the back as it deos from the front....

And just try to park that in New York

Holy crap that thing was 5" LONGER than a 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV. How did anyone park those things??

rented one of these ~10 years or so ago when on vacation in South Florida. easily the best rent-a-car experience I’ve ever had. I honestly don’t recall much about that particular vacation except for the car. my wife and I still talk about “the DTS” and how awesome it was.

1972 Chrysler Imperial. Biggest gaddam car I’ve ever seen and it looks sinister as hell.

1964 Buick Electra 225

200 years of American greatness culminated in the perfect execution of the pinnacle of luxury land yachts. I present to you the 1976 Chrysler New Yorker.

1971 Sedan DeVille with the 500 cube v8

Any Cadillac Eldorado convertible. I, personally, would take something mid-70s.

Why? The Rav4 is still available.

I like the cut of your jib. Given the current engine name is G16E-GTS, it could be called the G32E-GTS

Man, idk. I would seriously consider selling my mk7 GTI if they made a Corolla GR. I’ve always said if they made the Corolla hatch with 250+hp I would buy it.

Same. I don’t want a Corolla. I want this basically bespoke, ridiculous thing.

Sigh. Every time I read an overseas review of this car (including this one) I get that much more depressed that outside of the 25-year rule, we’ll never get it here.

Bolt 2 of these engines together end to end, Aston V12 style, and add another turbo. Boom - 3.2L Supra engine.

You think that a 4500lb Camry with 30 more horsepower will be faster than a 2800lb YarisGR?
