My dentist did comment negatively on past work done by another. Of course in this case it was to explain why he had to end up pulling out the tooth (he tried to save it 2x but the infection kept coming back—imagine having an abscess constantly draining from your gums).

And when it comes to stuff like gum disease and tooth decay, it is a health issue that if left untreated can lead to death. They should be the same as regular docs about non-cosmetic procedures.
