I’m genuinely surprised how anyone can say that this show nails the Sandman vibe. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate it at all, and so far am quite content with the show. But it can’t be denied that it’s much more dark in style, much more noir. What I loved about the comics is how technicolour, wild and fantastical they

I always like to say to friends who are just familiar with the show that the books aren’t that horny, and that GRRM is more fond of elaborate descriptions of dinners and banquets than sex and nudity. With maybe the exception of poor Tyrion’s penis.

No funny moments? I laughed heartily at Patrick squirming when confronted with his anti-semitism, Nathan’s physical comedy in his ‘dad’ role, the madness of the aging mirrors, th absurdity of the ‘emotional rehearsal’, planting zucchinis like carrots, the sticker on the bell peper and Nathan’s reaction to it and more

The part about Patrick’s phone dying reminded me of a naive person not being willing to believe that they are, in fact, being ghosted and that the other party has just blocked their number. That kind of self-lie seems very in-character for Nathan in this show.

Judging by the episode list that’s known so far I’m not too sure it’s gonna be just a two-parter. I’m really curious to see where this is going.

One thing where the show should've stepped in; putting lavender oil on the baby's feet. Putting essential oils on a baby's skin is a dangerous game that Angela no way in hell is gonna play right.

I don’t reeeaaaally agree. I loved the idea of it becoming a sort of origin myth for android civilisation in season 3. The dawn of a new species and it fighting for its niche in human lands. Usually fiction is concerned with the aftermath and you don’t get to see the start of it all in detail, especially not from the

I kind of have the same problem, but honestly it’s broader than just going to the movies. I’ve been out of the home a lot less in general. Not been out playing boardgames as much as pre-covid either, been going to the gym a lot less, been cycling a lot less, anything that just involves being somewhere out of the house

That’s why I sneak in snacks from home into the theater. I might pay for a popcorn but that’s it.

Films like Guardians, Ragnarok and Black Panther demonstrated that the MCU greatly benefitted from employing filmmakers like James Gunn, Waititi and Ryan Coogler to bring a truly unique vision and style to the superhero stories they were telling.”

Mad Men’s use of Tomorrow Never Knows is a transcendent character moment for Don (in its effectiveness for the viewer, not in terms of what happens to Don). Way more interesting than the way ST uses music (though I’ll never complain about hearing 80's bangers), that “crowning moment of awesome” spiel.

Hmm, I took Bheem being looked after a Muslim family and him then taking charge together with this superhero buddy more as a “Hinduism is leading us, the rest support it” thing. More friendly than those appalling policies, but not exactly united as equals? I don’t know. I’ll admit that the details are probably going

I don’t know if 3D animation is gonna be a good fit. Whenever I’ve seen 3D anime in the recent past it was still too smooth and clean for my taste, but that can be fine in certain contexts. Trigun though? That show’s setting is grimy, crusty and dusty as all hell. I’m very skeptical modern 3D anime art is gonna do

Rather, its specificity paves the way for a universal story, and universal sentiment.”

“I feel there are things that you just, like, don’t say to me and I can’t tell whether you’re, like, holding back a desire to be close, or a desire to be distant” is the kind of unwieldy dialogue that isn’t natural so much as it’s excruciatingly self-conscious.”

Not gonna lie, Gordo’s kid getting smacked but surviving anyway was just a bit too much of a stretch for me.

This is an interesting take, and it’s true that comics often have on-stage personas, sure, but ‘real-life’ opinions can easily bleed through into those personas. Considering how tone-deaf and hurtful those trans jokes are, why did he think it was a good idea to put those in, to have his crass persona tell them? Why

You realize that people can absolutely bullshit themselves out of criticism by saying things like that?

I can’t remember her being diagnosed with a terminal illness outright, just that the Dowager mentioned that she didn’t have long left. It was left vague in the first movie and is still vague in the second movie, so it didn’t feel like a problem or anything.

Isn’t one of the key points of the first Predator how shitty, worthless and destructive that bloated military bravado is? Arnie eventually beat the damn thing in a pretty old-school fashion, nothing a Comanche can’t do.
