My point is, a guys drives 130 RBIs or 190 RBIs he is a good player, and that is what that stat tells me. In the same way a guy has an OPS of 1.000 he is a good player, etc.

RBIs tell me how many runs a guy is directly responsible for. A guy doesn’t hit 130 RBIs because he was lucky. He was good! No one is saying Bryce Harper isn’t good. Just Arenado was better at driving in runs last year. Yes he had more opportunities but he was actually better as well.

Oh man, I thought you were done but then you throw out this doozy.

OPS w/ RISP, which is agreed, a superior stat than RBIs by a far margin. But again back to my original point, RBIs do tell you something which the guy I was commenting at was saying they don’t.

I never said one was better than the other. I will say this, Arenado was a better hitter with runners in scoring position, and the stats, including RBIs back that up.

Forget my example.

I mean there are million outside factors, is the guy hungover, was it cold, was there a pretty blonde with big tits in the front row distracting him, is the pitcher his friend, was the ump tired and wanted to go home, obviously my example was simplistic. That was so you could understand it.

Read the first sentence, its a flawed stat. Not a meaningless one was my point. Obviously there are better ones. I made the ABs the same for clarity sake.

No. The RBI is a flawed stat, not a meaningless one.

Interesting examples.

Brah, I hate Lebron, but even I can’t get behind this. Go call your local AM radio station with this hot garbage.

Deflate gate II. The rare sequel that lives up to and arguably surpasses the original.

Cubs fan here. Please note this is not the title of the article:

I think the point is it is awkward, sad and most importantly newsworthy.

Right, because when people cheat on each other they usually do it with their child in the room... what???

Read this article this morning and thought, “This is ripe for Deadspin to shit on.”

Darren Rovell can’t throw a spiral and can make money promoting / reporting / tweeting about the NCAA.
