Dismissing valid issues as “oppression Olympics” is bullshit. This is a problem that is not just significantly worse for WOC but that also requires different steps needed to fix the issue for them.

There was an episode of the original run where DJ steals a car and Roseanne is so angry she spanks him. And she just hates herself the whole episode. She is in tears over it and Dan (who thinks it was appropriate) can’t comfort her. She is horrified that she did something her father would do. As is Jackie.

The sex cult offshoot is actually a fairly recent development over the last five years.
