I think one of the funniest parts of the whole scandal is that she was trying to get her kid into some place like University of Southern California, a place I had barely heard of prior to the incident. They weren't aiming for Harvard or the Ivy Leagues. It was just some dumb school in California.

Beck Bennett leaving is a huge problem for SNL because he's the best straight man that they've got. Like he's a super underrated member of the team. As long as Kyle Mooney stays then that's all that matters. As soon as he leaves then there's shoot no reason to continue watching SNL.

The biggest problem with the “SATs are racist” argument is that whites don’t get the best grades. Asians and Indians do. How does “White supremacy” explain that?

Someone always forgets to tell Asian Americans that the SAT is designed for White overachievement.

I can certainly see a subjective test, like historical trivia or English idioms, designed by one subculture being more difficult (either unintentionally or maliciously) for another subculture. And how using those sorts of tests as a gatekeeping device would re-enforce the dominance of one culture.

A: The category isn’t for Latin people it’s for Latin music, which are two separate things. One can play Latin music and not be a Latino.

But we’ll get another one in 6 months: “DID YOU KNOW THAT MONICA FROM FRIENDS COULDN’T AFFORD THAT BIG APARTMENT?!”, and so the content mill churns on, until the heat death of the universe.

Seems like every two or three years some dipshit comes to the conclusion that apartments in TV and the movies are unrealistic and writes a column or makes a video about it.

Yeah, it was her grandma’s rent controlled apartment. I bet the landlord was super happy when they moved out at the end of the series so he could jack up the rent to 5X what Monica was paying. 

Of course, which is why the conceit in show was explicitly that she had a cheap price inherited from a relative (so rent control, not rent stabilization.) But acting like it would still the equivalent price back then when factoring in inflation is misleading to the point of just being flat incorrect. No one, and…

As clearly stated in the show, Monica was illegally subletting her apartment from a Great Aunt (or something like that). None of these “takedowns” of her place and its rent for the past 2 deacdes mean anything.
