I gave up on steam not long after early access and greenlight became the norm, and the games list filled up with hundreds of almost pointless games. Now, I can’t say I particularly LIKE Uplay or Origin, but at least they keep all the shovelware out.

Black Screen at startup is definitely related to running the game at over 60Hz, set to 120 or 144, it’ll just blackscreen until you go windowed.
