This is a much better version of what I was trying to say. The fact that you can prop the hood at 90 degrees and access bolts behind the engine is a pretty huge selling point to me from a maintenance perspective. I’ve had mine for about 1 1/2 years now and it’s been amazing thus far. Good friend of mine has 180k on

Reading all this, some I agree with, some I don’t; but can we all agree that Cornelius Van needs to be a guest reporter on Jalopnik - that was some very good story telling!

Excellent writing.

This is no one trick puppy either, this dog knows how to boogie. The helm is well weighted, quick, and sharp, on par with (if not *quite* as perfect) the steering in the lauded E30 and the even better classic Saab 900.

This car seriously had all the makings of a Nissan 370Z, Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, Infiniti G37, etc competitor. If you only look at the spec sheet, this car had everything it needed... but...

Porsche: “Well, the jerk store called, and they're running out of you."

Id like to add to this discussion. I’m a diesel engine performance engineer.

A masterpiece. Absolutely brilliant. They should air this as a trailer for Jalopnik Film Festival.

Yeah my 25 year old BMW 535i does this too. It’s just engineered into some cars, with a special chip from eBay and a partially functional throttle position sensor and some holes in the exhaust. It’s like a symphony.

It’s super clean, but they’re asking way too much especially considering most of these then-luxury features have made their way down to less expensive cars. A top-trim Mazda has most of this car’s features and some that didn’t even exist at the time.

Paul Bracq. Why? Well, let's look at the design icons he created:

I drive old awesome because I can't tolerate new shit and refuse to pay for new awesome. Old awesome still ends up cheaper than new awesome.

I get approached at gas stations too, you know.

"Excuse me sir, I can't help but notice you drive an old german sedan. Would you like me to call a tow truck for you? Oh- you're just getting gas? You mean it actually runs?"
