Two years ago, I bought an ‘84 BMW 635CSi. It was privately imported into Miami in 1985 and federalized, and then de-federalized and had the Hartge catalog thrown at it. Yes, it is in fact, where it’s at. Having also owned a US spec ‘87 535i, I can confirm Euro-spec does in fact have two turntables and a microphone.

Well hold on...

- HVAC in the cars from ‘74 to ‘80 was garbage, agreed. Earlier ones were simple manual systems, and later ones were electrified and worked well.

-With the regards to the timing chain, you’re referring to the early 380 SLs, from ‘80 to ‘82. While that timing chain could be a problem, it often wasn’t, and

Being a (ugh) millenial living in a pretty big city means I’m kinda hard up for car friends. I can’t say that I’ve got seat time in a friend of a friend’s Lancia Delta HF, or something of the like. Generally speaking, if there’s a car that I want to get to know, I have to buy it.

Let me tell you about my weird winter

I’d like to nominate my old E28 535i. When I bought it, there were many things wrong with it, but I didn’t know that. I thought they just idiosyncrasies of the platform.

When I was a wee lad my mother worked at Mercedes and would bring home whatever the new hot thing was for the weekend of my birthday. With this in mind, you could I was initially set up for ruin by a then brand new 1994 S600 - and what a spoiling it was.

On the four cars in my fleet I have over a million kilometers on them. They’re all cars that have been driven and taken care of over the course of their lives. Despite being spooky old Europeans that most people would be afraid of, they are very reliable and I trust them.

First, this is an excellent and appropriately viscous deconstruction of an article that’s bullshit at best and misleading at worst.

I'm gonna cheat a little, as I don't have specific ads for these.

The front jackpoint is typical for pretty much any old Bimmer. I don't know why they bothered calling them jack points because you absolutely cannot use them as jack points. It's great that you're attacking the problem on your own, I'd love to have the skill/time/patience necessary to attempt a job like that. Kudos to

No, mine's a couple over from the red car in the background. A silver Euro E28 on BBS wheels with cardinal red leather parked next to me (... dream car!). Either way, what's going on with your E30?

I had two, actually. I had a Graphite Euro 635CSi (pretty sure it was the only non-M Euro shark there), and I had the blacked-out E28 535i with the crummy paint job. I was supposed to be selling that car there... couldn't do it.

A hybrid assisted rotary sports car would be genius. The torque from the electric motor would fill in the glaring absence of torque as seen in the Renesis, which would dramtically improve fuel economy as well because the engine wouldn't have to be revving it's heart out to get away from a light.

It's still a bit of a

Oh, I'm surprised I missed that! I've been looking for a good set of pics of this year's show but I only found one set that was okay. Thanks! Did you have a car there?

Hi everyone, first time caller, long time listener.
