Yes, I agree. I know that another commenter on this thread was, as well. I grew up with a relative, stressed beyond endurance, who took her rage out nightly on me. As a consequence, though, I actually have more fear of violence, and am less likely to be able to defend myself. Fear and a sort of “learned helplessness”…
