Probably because most people don't want to spend $500+ on a pen. Moleskine's are $15+ but, depending on what you get, you can get one for less than $10.

It looks like the app doesn't even provide the shortest routes. E.g., to get home from, I could take the metro bus, culver city bus, or a big blue bus. The culver city bus is the shortest/fastest but the app only shows metro bus routes.

I've been using Twee on Android and it's pretty nice. There's no syncing capability so unless you plan on manually updating multiple devices, it's best to just keep it to one.
