You should be able to turn off cards and turn off notifications by going to the Google Now —> Settings.
I've put quite a few Ikea Micke desks together and they assemble quickly but, as with most cheap things from Ikea, you can strip the material easily.
Objectively, you're right, that shouldn't cause disdain for the customer, but it gets hard to be objective when you're literally hearing it for the 30th time that day, five days a week, four weeks a month, 12 months a year.
I agree it's a good app. I liked it when I used it but I had to stop because my server wasn't the fastest. It always felt like it took forever to load.

I agree. My E key has worn off on 2 keyboards (I returned my first to get it again at a cheaper, $17 pricetag).
Or get a split keyboard, like the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard.
