Oh so this is the reason. Been wondering since they came out why people love red so much more.

You can’t even really eat real carp though so it’s definitely based on reality.

As a kid even when the games were new most people preferred red and I never quite understood why. I thought maybe it was to do with everyone also preferring Charmander as the starter. Like red goes with fire kind of deal. But really I don’t know. So it’s still more popular then? Seriously though why?
