I’m glad I’m not the only one what was annoyed by this. There was another episode (or was it a JJ movie?) that showed the turbolifts liek this. It seems to imply that that ships have the living space of a small house spread out across a couple of city blocks. It doesn’t make any sense.
Yeah the cavernous turbolift ‘shafts’-if you can call them that-are eye rolling-ridiculous. I agree with this take. Fanservice is not, in and of itself, bad. It can be (and often is) done in terrible, cringy ways and ways that actively harm telling the work’s actual story, but this? I liked it, and I too popped when Carl’s voice changed.
