honestly, Frakes’ presence is almost as comforting as Stewart’s. Over TNG’s run, he evolved from smarmy womanizing upstart to a seasoned, grinning warmth that really upped his likability, and now in old age he’s basically completed the transformation into a giant walking teddy bear stuffed with hugs. it’s great.
counterpoint: fight scenes are boring as hell, and don’t really enhance Star Trek. There are any number of shows out there where you can watch trained actors dance around each other for 10 minutes at a time pretendinf to fight. Trek has never been a show like that. and i’m glad, because scenes like that just make me…
I’m constantly having to remind myself that there is a decent percentage of the population that views tomatoes only as an ingredient rather than food in and of itself. Even garden ripe tomatoes won’t convince them, I’ve tried that route and they still look at me like I’m crazy.
I like how the show somehow figured a way for Riker to yell “SHEILDS UP!”
Christ Zack, it’s your favourite episode of the season, you gave it the best grade, and your review reads like an Uber review for Hitler. I know it’s a critic’s job to be critical, but articulating praise for the things done right is part of the job, too. (personally I thought the last episode was objectively better,…
(One wonders what the show would be like if Joe Weisburg of The Americans had been given the job)
Good to know.
I suspect James has never experienced a garden ripe tomato. They are heavenly.
LOL you know you’re a piece of shit when even GLAAD doesn’t give a fuck that you came out.
He seems to be couching his anti-gay views somewhere between “everybody else was doing it” and “it was a different time.”
I can’t say it any better than Tom & Lorenzo.
I'm going to die from not surprise.
“I also hope that in sharing my story it might help shine a light for young people, raised the way I was, looking for a path out of darkness and shame.”
Are you sure that’s not Actor Who Deserves More Work?
Because all Vulcans are assholes in new Trek....
I didn’t read Agnes eating as trying to vomit out the tracker, at least not consciously, I read it as stress/guilt eating (and likely the vomiting too). She has enough medical knowledge to know that wouldn’t have worked.
It’s fucking awful. I know I sound like a grandpa, but practical effects and real stunts generate excitement that CGI rarely can. I’d prefer to watch Indy, Short Round, and Willie get hosed down on an obviously-stationary raft than watch that monkey-filled spectacle through the CGI Amazon.
“Someone get his Mexican non-union equivalent!”
I’m honestly a pretty big ToD fan. It captures the pulp action feel of an old adventure novel better than the other 2.
