It’s ALWAYS ‘lives are on the line!’

If there’s something stopping someone from coming to “my side” when that “side” is “trans people should get to live” then there is nothing I can say to convince them. It’s as simple as that.

Sales happen when you’re not looking for them. Plus I come from the land of PC where if you wait 6 months, it’s going to be at least 50% off.

Found this at a local outlet mall last September for example: Yes they are all almost 4.99 and brand new.

“Do you think a person donating money to causes supporting transgender people who then also buys this game is making a net negative difference?”

“People get tired of it.” If you think it’s exhausting caring about genocide imagine how exhausting it is having to justify your right to exist every waking moment of every day. If your biggest struggle is “people on internet are mean about me enjoying genocide simulator that gives money to people committing genocide”

I dunno man, if after Polanski loudly and clearly announced he was pedophile, he made a new movie and you went to see it, you would be supporting a pedophile. The NFL does not have an expressly pro-domestic-violence stance, so it’s not the same. And your call out to “gangster rap” is...sus at best.

You can’t “take Potter back” if you’re handing her money for it. You’re not reclaiming a slur by giving the people using it against you a thumbs-up because they came up with such a fun word.

You could have just said I disagree, all that other stuff you wrote makes it look like you are seeking approval for your purchase. You didn’t get called a Nazi for buying this game, you got called one for vocally supporting it online, something you knew would upset a sizable portion of the trans community.

It’s difficult to avoid running into the garbage. The Hardspace Shipbreaker forum was an absolute disaster area of right wing chuds whining about ‘being forced to play through a union-positive story’ when the free play mode is literally right there.

Play the game and here’s what you’re saying.

You could lash out at someone who does charity work, attends protests, and does actual work for the LGBTQIA+ community because they seperated the art from the artist and didn’t participate in Slacktivism.”

No my dude. No reasonable person is saying that anyone playing this game is as bad as Hitler. What I’m saying is that if you choose to buy and play the game, you care more about playing the game than you do about JK’s bigotry. And that’s fine if that’s the decision you want to make, but own it.

Naw man, not playing a video game is literally the least someone can do.

They are very much the same group. They lost that battle and they see this as the current battle.
If they they win this it’s back to fighting the gays. They’ll use the exact same arguments too.

This is all colossal shit show, but the fact that there’s even a significant number of voices standing up against JK’s transphobia is heartening in a way. It reminds me very much of the anti-gay movements in the late 90's and early 00's - hopefully a sign that yet another form of bigotry is dying.

I went to the Dead Space remake steam forums looking for info to see if anyone knew if there was a way to force the game to compile all of its shaders to drop all the stuttering (There isn’t a way) and instead initially found people losing their minds about “wokeness” of Dead Space of all things....

This. The forums are invaluable for small, obscure games that receive little to no coverage outside of Steam. If I’m having technical or gameplay issues, I can generally rely on the forums to provide useful information.

Honestly, at this point I just recommend purchasing the expanded storage and ending the constant juggling. It cost me $150 CAD last year for a 1TB NVME and heat sink, and I imagine in the US that price is a lot cheaper. The install is super easy, and once you do it substantially improves your PS5 experience. Also,

counterpoint-counterpoint-counterpoint. But it’s your friend’s PS5 storage that gets copied to.

Step 1: don’t pre-order games. You have a huge gaming backlog and the money you’d save by waiting for a sale is worth missing out on that bonus wrap.
