The gaming community is something else. Game comes out rushed, they bitch and attack the devs. Game gets delayed, they bitch and attack the devs. Xbox fans have a whole revolving library of free games via a subscription but blow a gasket when the company that released Fallout 76 tells them they have to wait longer.

exactly, look at sea of thieves, it would have sunk after launch if not for gamepass pumping up the player base and keeping people hopping on when the content updates come out. risky ventures become less so when revenue is going to come whether a single title flops or not.

The big exclusive that Microsoft has is Gamepass. I’ve been able to get so much out of it on my PC this year and neither Sony or Nintendo have anything like it. Jumping into Tunic right away has been well worth the service and I’d probably be playing more games on it if it wasn’t for Rogue Legacy 2 slowly eating away

As long as MS is offering GamePass, they’ll be just fine. It sucks when your big hits get delayed and miss giving you big Q4 numbers, but the whole point of having a subscription service in the first place was to give them a constant, steady revenue stream and make them less dependent on tent-pole hits.

The Show is a weird one because it’s ultimately MLB’s call to make, not Sony’s.

we are also getting day and date MLB The Show 2022 today which is still a mindboggling thought that a sony developed title is now a flagship part of gamepass.

I thought to myself yesterday that as an indie adventure game from Squenix, True Colors would be a great match for GamePass, and here they are confirming it one day later. Nice!

tell me about it.

Microsoft is burning money but for long term gains. Between buying Zenimax and Activision/Blizzard they’re setting themselves up to make money regardless of what system you play on. It’s why gamepass works on phones and tablets too. They want you in their ecosystem, even if you’re not playing an xbox.

Paid around $80 to get 3 years of GPU and won a free year on a Twitch stream. So I’m good through November 2023 but not sure how I’ll end up adding more time. I have enough points on Microsoft Rewards to get an additional year free too. Then I’ve thought about buying 3 month cards whenever they go on sale.

So it seems *kinda* eh, as far as directly competing with gamepass is concerned—not having those day 1 new games is a blow, where gamepass keeps getting lauded for that.

I paid about $100 for 3 years of GPU.  Incredible deal.

Oh cool so I can pay a hefty subscription fee for temporary access to games I’ve already owned for years.

As far as business moves go, Sony’s is an errant line of dialogue from Pirates of the Caribbean.

So they are going to compete wih gamepass by being worse and more expensive?

On it’s face, it doesn’t seem quite worth the price of admission. I’ll be interested in seeing how it actually functions in practice.

Wait so if the games are games-on-demand, I can play them offline like I do with Game Pass? I don't need a steady connection to play those games? PS Now has never been available in my region (India) so just want to make sure.
