Next week McCracken and Code Pink will be in Philadelphia to protest the Democratic National Convention. “We don’t like Trump or Hillary, we think they’re both war hawks.”

I could be totally off base but for most of us, having the POTUS remind me of my mother isn’t entirely a bad thing.
Like the time Hillary Clinton was on one of the late night talk shows and they did a bit about mansplaining. Rather than finding it funny or apt, Jezebel called it “cringeworthy”. And I thought “really Jezebel? The blog that talks about mansplaining mocked actual mockery of mansplaining?”
Hillary Clinton making mom jokes is great. She should make more of them. Reminding Americans that she is a mom who does things like tell mom jokes might help some of the fence sitters (true conservatives are lost causes on the Clinton front) remember that she’s not a WeinerCrusher PoliticoFemBot MK VIII.
Exactly.
I found this endearing. My mom is nearly 70 and actually very technologically hip for a boomer. But I don’t know what the fuck Pokemon Go is, largely because I was too old for Pokemon so I don’t care. To me, this rang very true. I don’t need Hillary to be anything but what she is: a strong, experienced, intelligent…
The other day at a barbeque my husband’s cousin was talking about the election and he was just like, “Yeah I won’t vote Republican but I just really hate Hillary. I mean you can just tell she WANTS to be President and thinks she’d be good at it. Such a bitch.”
My mom doesn’t really make jokes much, but man, my dad would make this joke in a heartbeat. He’s also a Hilary super fan so I’m sure he found this very cute, just like I did.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
It’s Hilary Clinton. Anything she does must be met with snark, disbelief, negative judgement, and dissection of what she “really” means. She can’t just be an older woman using a trend to make a bad joke.
It’s fine. She can’t win either way. If she makes a joke, she’s an old woman who is out of touch, while, hell, Obama and Biden can make dad jokes out the yinyang. If she doesn’t make jokes, she’s a dried up twat who is calculating and evil. Because women and ambition just don’t mix. It just doesn’t matter how she…
I’m actually surprised by how much snark she is getting for this. I thought it was super cute. She reminded me of my mom, who happens to be a) a terrible/adorable teller of jokes and b) a total badass you would do well not to cross.
Not a partisan, but SEC teams routinely play top tier non-conference opponents at the start of each season. Exposure and recruitment tool. Same logic in why many top tier teams play other top tier teams, often at neutral venues, at the start of a new season.Money doesn’t hurt either.
oh let’s have a Dan thread.
Collins said in court papers she’s now remorseful for her actions.
She hasn’t been bending over to appease him, as far as I can tell. I think she’s played it perfectly - not trashing him at all but pivoting cleanly to focus on Trump. She’s behaving as the presumptive nominee and when he finally does endorse her I’m sure she’ll talk about what an amazing contribution his campaign was…
I’m very tired of the expectation that the winning candidate is expected to jump through hoops to appease the loser.
Am I the only one who just doesn’t care at this point? I really wish Clinton would say, “Yeah, no. You lost, your platform lost, if you want to be with the winning team then sure endorse me, but I’m not bending over for you.”
You could be forgiven. They have similar stances on weapons proliferation and the place of religion in the public sphere.
“It would’ve been nice if Lady Mormont hadn’t completely forgotten the female, trueborn Stark in the room during her rousing speech :/ ”
